What
is Pier Jacking?
Pier Jacking
is used to correct foundation problems by stabilizing and
bringing the foundation up to its original structured condition.
The Pier
Jacking process involves excavating around a foundation wall
and exposing the concrete footings. A Pier is driven into
the ground beside the footings to solid bering material. This
could be 5 ft to 35 ft depending on the soil conditions. A
plate is attached to the pier and placed under the footing.
A Hydraulic Jack is used to jack up the footing to its original
constructed elevation.
The number
of piers required depends on the size of the project and the
state of its disrepair. Often the problem is not recognized
as serious which results in continued movement and increased
damage, which may require additional piers and increased cost.
